Everyday activities to improve language in children

Children are like learning sponges and they need you and your wisdom to learn great things and develop to the fullest, the same thing happens with language. But besides you, everyday activities are great for increasing your toddler's vocabulary without hardly realizing that he is doing it.

Do not miss these activities that you can do with your children from now on to help them improve their language.

Cook together

The kitchen offers many opportunities in language. Here you have the opportunity to encourage language development while preparing something delicious to eat.  Counting, weighing and measuring are all part of a baking experience.

Baking cookies with soft roll and cut dough is probably one of the best baking activities for preschoolers. After you've baked the cookies, you can get creative and garnish with icing and chocolate chips.

Construction toys

Choose construction toys that are appropriate for their age. Lego is brilliant, but your preschooler might be more comfortable with blocks. Construction toys give you a chance to talk about size and shape. Use construction toys to follow instructions and build towers or castles. Then play with what you have built.

Sensory and play trays with sand

Sensory vocabulary is developed through sand games and sensory trays. A sensory tray filled with different objects encourages language as your child touches and talks about the items on the tray.

Choose things with texture and different sizes. Mix them up to classify experiences. Look for things like buttons, corks, pebbles, pasta, blocks, and lego. A sandbox under the shade of a tree is always a topic of conversation and an opportunity to dig, build, and play with sand toys.
