How can we better control and manage our negative emotions?

negative emotions

As parents, it is essential that we understand negative emotions to know that they are necessary to move forward in life. Negative emotions are not bad at all and it is important to teach children to understand that all emotions, those considered good and those considered bad, are necessary in life.

One of the best ways to deal with our negative emotions is through acceptance. This is a lesson that children should be taught from a very young age. Just as there are benefits to negative emotions, forcing ourselves to be happy all the time too it can be detrimental to our overall emotional well-being.

Children must be taught to understand that sadness, rage, anger, anger ... are natural emotions and it is normal to feel them. Only that we must learn to manage those emotions without them managing us.

You must be an example in accepting negative emotions, in ourselves and in others, they are part of being human, it allows us to build a better compassion for how they could present themselves and why. Instead of getting stuck in a mindset that negative emotions should be avoided or that are somehow 'wrong' to experience, we must accept that they are a natural part of who we are.

Once we do that, we can really start to change the way we can respond to them and develop behaviors that are meaningful and add value to the way we express ourselves and relate to others. This will be a great lesson that children will learn, but for them you will have to be a good example. Think about your emotions when you feel them, think why you have them and in this way, you can have more control over them. From now on negative emotions will not be a problem for anyone!
