Last minute ideas to celebrate Easter with children

Easter with children

In many homes Easter is celebrated today. The family gets together and, although it is a religious holiday, both believers and non-believers usually do something special on this day.

Easter makes children especially excited as it lends itself to many fun activities, especially the eat the delicious chocolate eggs typical of these dates. There are many things that can be done so that children have an unforgettable day. Here are some express ideas for you to enjoy today as a family.

Prepare an egg hunt

The eggs, along with the rabbit, are the quintessential symbol of Easter. They symbolize life, spring and fertility. Therefore, on the day in which the resurrection of Christ is celebrated, they cannot be missing both in your decoration and in the games.

One of the classics increasingly ingrained in our country, is the egg hunt. You can hide chocolate eggs, painted hard boiled eggs, plastic surprise eggs, or any other ideas you can think of. You can also give it a little more excitement by writing some clues for your kids to find.

 Decorate eggs

Cooked, on cardboard, in rubber or cork. Any material is good to let your children let their artistic streak fly and decorate the house with their works of art.

Read about the origin of Easter

We all know the religious meaning of Easter and if you are a believer you will have already told your children about it. But, what if we also tell them the ancestral origins of traditions such as eggs and the rabbit? For inspiration, I wrote about it last year here

The rabbit and eggs game

Do you remember the game of hitting the donkey's tail? Well this is the same only with a rabbit and eggs. Paint a large rabbit with a basket on construction paper. Cut out different colored eggs. The game consists of blindfolding and try to stick the eggs as close to the basket as possible. You can fix the eggs with velcro or pins depending on the age of the children.

Egg and Spoon Race

This game of a lifetime, your children will love it. You only need a few spoons and chocolate eggs or painted hard-boiled eggs. Each participant must put a spoon in their mouth with an egg on top and try to reach the goal without dropping it.

I hope these last minute ideas help you to spend a beautiful day.

Happy Easter!
