What is leucorrhea?

leucorrhea

When a girl becomes a woman, bodily changes are the order of the day, and she must know that they will accompany her throughout her adult life. Our body is a masterpiece of nature and knowing how to interpret it is our task.

All women have vaginal discharge and we need to know the variations that this flow can suffer throughout the month and throughout life. It is not always the same, the same amount or the same color is not always segregated, so today we are going to concentrate on learning what is leucorrhea

Leucorrhoea, what is it?

leucorrhoea 1

El vaginal discharge It is part of women's lives. Varies according to age, sexual life and the time of the month or the ph of the vagina. Throughout my life I have experienced many changes in my vaginal discharge and I have noticed the first ones as soon as I started my sexual life. I think the same thing has happened to all of us, with more or less luck in recurrence.

Women know about candiasis and bacterial vaginosis. He changing sexual partners, using condoms, taking birth control, or wearing tight underwear or nylon may end up producing some change in vaginal pH that leads to some condition. I encourage myself to assert that there is no woman who has not suffered from fungus at some time in her life. I have spent at least a whole year fighting a recurring candiasis.

But what is leucorrhoea? Because something very easy to interpret is burning and itching, we already assume that it is fungus, and another thing is to see a abnormal discharge but the vast majority of the time does not itch or burn.

leucorrhea

Leucorrhea is a harmless, white, fine vaginal discharge. Sometimes it has a strong smell, sometimes it doesn't.. That's why one tends to overlook it and hope that it will disappear on its own. It's basically a good secretion that helps to balance the vaginal ph so that other pathogens do not thrive, but sometimes it is not normal. We know when we have more flow than usual or when this flow is prolonged over time.

We can have leukorrhea in relation to our period, due to the change in hormones. We will notice this change in flow more or less around the ovulation period or if we become pregnant, right at the beginning or in the third trimester. How do we notice? Well underwear seems constantly wet and if you touch it with your finger you will be able to collect a small amount of whitish discharge. Obviously, always with very clean hands.

Sometimes that flow can give off more odor than usual. It is not an ugly smell, we are used to our smells, but you will notice that It's more intense than usual. It does not always happen, that must also be taken into account.

This year, to give you an example, I had leucorrhoea twice. I had that strong flow for a couple of months and after using those single-dose ovules it went away. It came back in time and this time no smell, so I went to the gynecologist and ended up with a week's worth of ovules. He didn't smell or itch, but he told me that if he let it go in the long run those symptoms would appear. Since my husband did not have any symptoms, this time he did not have to accompany me in the treatment, like other times.

Now, medical specialists Leucorrhoea is classified as liquid and creamy. depending on how they are in the exploration they do in the vagina, helped by the speculum. If an ovum therapy does not eliminate it, cervivaginal samples should be taken to make the corresponding culture and better hit the drug.

When leucorrhoea is liquid, cultures tend to be negative and are classified as physiological. The most frequent germs in this sense are candida albicans and gardnerella vaginalis. On the other hand, when the leukorrhea is creamy, it tends to be more pathological and cultures are more positive.

The good news is that leucorrhoea is nothing badNothing that a visit to the doctor can't fix. Personally I always recommend go to office I have friends who go straight to the pharmacy, I have done it sometimes, but the expert look is surely the most recommended and can shorten the path to a cure. We do not understand suppositories and pills and we can end up using a generic one, more broad-spectrum, when we need something more specific.

Changes in the flow are the most normal thing in the world. There are women who luckily never experience these issues, but they are the least, so if you have or have had leucorrhoea or fungus, then welcome to the feminine world. With these issues there are stages, sometimes they stay for months, they come and go, sometimes they disappear for years. Here play a lot of stress, I know, but there are always things we can do to prevent.

How is leucorrhea prevented? First of all, it's okay that you're a super clean girl but be careful. Excessive hygiene sweeps away the normal vaginal slack and opens the door to infections. Nothing to use the bidet much with vaginal showers. It is also not recommended to use toilet soap with perfume, even if you like them a lot. The ideal is a neutral glycerin soap or the most common of all, the white soap to wash clothes.

prevention of leucorrhea

The use of tampons is also recommended only when necessary, although now the menstrual cup is a great alternative to the use of tampons that, we already know, are made with industrial cotton and bleached with who knows what. And finally, try to wear loose clothing as much as you can and always prefer the cotton underwear to the nylon You will tell me that you use daily protectors…

What can I say? I don't like them very much and neither does my gynecologist. If you never have infections, then go ahead, but if you have leucorrhea or candiasis, then it is better to use folded toilet paper than a daily protector. Did you know that option? The paper does not gather odors and you can always discard it when visiting the bathroom and change it for a new one.

And finally, if you take contraceptives it is possible that the vaginal ph suffers alterations. Something to counter that is eat yogurt daily. The same if due to an infection you end up taking antibiotics. It is not that it is always a solution, but the probiotics in yogurt help the intestinal and vaginal flora.

Even if yours is recurring you can try taking probiotics on a daily basis for a long time. The doctor has advised me at the time, he has even told me that he has had patients who, already desperate for the competition, placed yogurt directly in the vagina. Without going so far, today in gynecology these options are taken into account as part of more general treatments when it comes to combating vaginal conditions.
