6 steps to change your perspective on motherhood and become more resilient

upbringing

As a mother or father, it is important that you learn to change your perception of reality so that in this way, parenting is easier for you, full of harmony and good feelings. Do not lose detail of what we are going to reward you.

The following suggestions, adapted from the recommendations of the American Psychological Association, provide a framework for changing perceptions and building resilience:

Six steps to changing perceptions

  1. Make connections and accept help. Value relationships with close family and friends, prioritize time with them, and seek support when needed.
  2. Watch out for mind traps. Whenever fading habits appear, pause, label them catastrophic again, and redirect. For example, if you're feeling off with fear, acknowledge that fact, then refocus on something helpful to do as a first step: if nothing else, I'll call the pediatrician today for a referral.
  3. Cultivate a positive view of yourself. Capture your inner critic in action, put it aside and focus on your own strengths: “Thanks anyway, I wish I had done it differently, but I didn't. What would be the best thing to do now? "
  4. Accept that change and uncertainty are part of life. A common misperception that undermines wellness and resilience is struggling with what is truly beyond our control. Even when something upsetting happens, separate that experience from a broader expectation that it "shouldn't" have happened in the first place.
  5. Develop step-by-step goals and take decisive action.  Instead of pulling yourself apart and wishing that stress would end without doing anything to get it, stay proactive. When tasks seem unattainable, ask your inner self: What small goal can I achieve that moves me in the direction I want to go?
  6. Beware. Participate in activities that you enjoy and find relaxing. Taking care of yourself helps keep your mind and body primed for resistance.
