We know the importance of the disuse of much of the disposable plastic that we end up buying and that we have to throw away because we don't know what to do with it. We know that this already is causing a great polluting impact in nature and we do everything possible so that this phenomenon does not occur.
For families who like to do crafts with their children we have several proposals for make useful things by recycling plastic bottles. Children will love being part of this skill and we will all end up happy for having done something useful, such as a great gift for us or to give away, but with the great detail of being able to have made a second use to that plastic.
Candy boxes with plastic bottles
This craft is very original and you can see its steps in detail here.
Your materials:
- Plastic bottle.
- Eva rubber.
- Special glue for eva rubber.
- Stamped cardboard.
We cut the bases of the plastic bottles and cover all the areas with the eva rubber. You have to go making the ornaments paying attention to the details of the photo. The lid of the candy boxes is made with the same eva rubber. You will be surprised how many shapes you can make with this craft.
Practical wallets
This craft is easy to do because it does not have many materials.
Your materials:
- 2 plastic bottles.
- Zipper.
- Glue.
We will need two bottles because we need the bottom part. We make the same measurement of the two lower parts and cut them out. With the glue we glue the two parts so that they are united. If you have a sewing machine that has strength, you can put the zipper on by sewing it instead of using glue.
A nest of birds
With the bottle cut out and joining both pieces we can make a bird's nest. You can see the craft here.
Makings:
- empty soda or water bottles
- tempera paint or acrylic water-based paint
- stickers or any embellishments
- colorless and dull varnish
- silicone glue
- pencil to draw pictures
- marker pen to mark the guidelines
- colored markers to decorate the surface
- a small pompom to decorate the nose
The lower part of the bottle and the upper part are cut out so that later both can fit together and make the shape of the birdhouse. In the lower part we will make a hole for the entrance.
We paint the pieces with white glue so that the acrylic black paint can be glued later. We decorate the whole house to our liking or as in the photo and place the small details. Finally we join both pieces with glue and we will have our craft ready.
Piggy bank
We cut both parts of the bottle to join them and make the shape of this funny animal. See the craft step by step here
Makings:
- A plastic bottle
- special paint for plastic
- plastic plugs
- glue
- cardstock or cardboard for the ears
- plastic eyes
We cut off the bottom of the bottle and the top. We join both pieces with glue making the shape of the piggy bank. We paint the piggy bank with the paint.
We place the plugs simulating the snout and legs, we will also paint them.
We cut the ears and prepare the eyes. We will glue all these pieces to the face. Finally make the opening to put the coins.

Makings:
- Plastic bottle
- Cutter
- Cardboard
- Gun silicone
- Masking or carpenter's tape
- Metallic spray paint
- Metallic paint for brush
- Brush
- Star shaped hole punch
- Scissors
- LED candle
We cut the bottle in half. We cut out a piece of circular cardboard to place it on its base. With a star-shaped hole punch, we make the holes in the upper part of the bottle. We paint all the details with metallic paint.
