Don't rescue your children from failure

You have to remind yourself that consequences are gifts in disguise, not an abandonment of your maternal "duty" to protect your children from challenges. Failure is necessary for children to learn from their own mistakes, improve and evolve.

There are days when you have to stop trying to overprotect them with every ounce of your being. In those moments, remind yourself that you have to take a step back and visualize who you want your children to become: resourceful, self-confident, independent and competent adults.

You have to remind yourself that you learned lessons in your life by making mistakes. You were allowed to fail and that made you responsible for your actions and you were able to challenge yourself until you made progress.  You not only learned to deal with setbacks and failures, but you also received a lesson (or a few hundred) in perseverance and problem solving.

Remind yourself that your children should know that it is okay to make mistakes as long as they acknowledge those failures and learn from them. They will only get tougher and more resourceful if they fail. When they feel comfortable making mistakes, there is still a lot to work on for them to really advance their learning in life.

We are still working on the concepts of 'what we have learned and what we would do differently next time ', little by little, slowly but surely,… For now, make sure that you do what you can every day for the sake of your children's education. Teach them that making mistakes is okay, as long as they learn from them so they don't fall back on the same stone twice, or not do it the same way.

It is not wanting your children to fail in life, far from it. It is simply understanding that they must fail to develop vital skills to be successful in life. Although sometimes it is difficult for you not to help them, it is necessary not to do it but to observe what happens closely.
