Flexibility in raising children

Within the education of children and the lives of people in general, flexibility is important. It allows people to navigate situations and relationships that, although they seem complicated a priori, can be simple with some flexibility. Flexibility, specifically, means: "Willingness to change or compromise."

The word 'commitment' is often treated almost like a dirty word. After all, people can talk about a security system being 'compromised', which means that it has a fault or a weak point that has been violated.

However, the true meaning of flexibility or willingness to change or compromise is to be open, not necessarily in a weak or negative sense of "open to attack." Flexibility is a good character trait for parent and scientist alike. Change in plans? The experiment does not work? The adaptable person takes it easy and tries another approach.

Flexibility can help parents:

  • Promote harmony: it is easier to maintain good relationships with people who may admit they are wrong or to collaborate with you to find a middle ground.
  • Help you change course when things don't work out: Take an invention as an example. If your invention continues to malfunction, being flexible allows you to try a different solution without looking at a particular method.

Flexibility is the opposite of being controlling or dogmatic, of needing to have everything your way. People who are flexible grow and develop because they are willing to see challenges and situations from multiple perspectives and they are better able to find common ground.

Therefore, flexibility is a good trait of people, children and families to create real relationships. Flexibility is necessary to be able to raise happy children and to be able to move forward in life at any age!
