The newborn babies They spend a large part of the day sleeping although, as they wake up approximately every three hours, parents do not have time to rest properly and we end up exhausted. Fortunately, it is only a temporary stage and between 6-8 weeks of life the sleep cycle changes, with shorter periods of sleep during the day and longer periods at night.
From then on, each baby is different and there are those who at four months are already capable of sleeping between eight and twelve hours in a row, while others find it more difficult and they may get it at six months, a year or even more ahead. To get him to sleep more at night it is necessary to teach him certain sleep habits, I will tell you about them below.
Take him to sleep at the right time
Babies are noticeable when they are tired and it is better to avoid leaving them in that state for a long time "so that they will tire more and sleep better", because just the opposite will happen. If he is too exhausted he will probably become irritated and it will be difficult for him to fall asleep, it is better to pay attention to those signs that indicate that he needs to sleep (rubbing his eyes, for example) and get him to rest as soon as possible.
Help him distinguish between day and night
During the day avoid lowering blinds or reducing noise, it is better to let there be light, the frequent activity of the house to take its course, play with it and, when it has to take a nap, do it in another place than the same as during the night.
On the other hand, at night, avoid turning on excessive lights, talk quietly, do relaxed activities such as reading a story, for example, and avoid making noises. You will see how in a short time they will understand the difference and their sleep patterns will adapt.
