Oat and chocolate cookies

  • 100 gr of oat flakes
  • 1 large egg
  • 50 gr de harina
  • 50 grams of butter
  • 40 grams of brown sugar
  • 1 pinch of yeast
  • the tip of a salt knife
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • chocolate chips (dark or milk chocolate, whichever you like best)

Put the butter in a bowl and melt in the microwave, it will only take a few seconds so keep an eye on it. Then mix in a larger bowl with the oats. Make sure all the oats are soaked with the melted butter.

In a separate bowl, mix the egg with the brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Stir well with the rods so that it is a creamy mixture, without lumps. When you have it, add a teaspoon of vanilla essence.

With the help of a strainer, go adding the flour to the sugar and egg cream. Slowly, sieving with the strainer so that it does not make lumps. Also add the pinch of yeast. Mix well so that it is a homogeneous paste.


Now we add the oats mixed with the butter, add chocolate chips to taste and mix well. We will have the cookie dough ready. Let it cool in the refrigerator for a few minutes, so that the dough hardens and handles better.

We bake the oatmeal cookies

Preheat the oven to about 180 degrees. Prepare a cookie sheet with a sheet of waxed paper. You can use a spoon, take small portions of the dough. With the hands make a little ball and place on the tray.

With the help of a piece of parchment paper, crush the cookie balls with your hand, to give it the proper shape. Use your fingers to help shape the edges. Bake the cookies for about 10 minutes approximately. Or until you see that they are golden.

Lastly, place the cookies on a rack to cool. This way they will be crispy, since if you leave them on the hot paper, they will get moistened and will be softened.
