The definition of kiss is technically pressing the lips against the surface of an object. As a general rule, the surface is usually someone else's skin, but this is not strictly necessary. Generally it is usually associated with the social behaviors of the human being, since it is a way of expressing emotions.
Being the international day of the kiss, we cannot avoid talking about everything that can be said about a kiss. We talk about the different types of kisses that can be given, depending on the form or the reason that triggers them. We will also talk about its benefits and of course what may be behind them. After a kiss, there can be many things, ulterior motives, loyalty or lack thereof, even illnesses if we focus on a more biological point of view.
Types of kisses
There are as many kisses as there are people in the world, each one gives them in their own way. Let's not forget that they are a way of expressing emotions and of course, everyone has their own and their way of expressing them. However, if we want to classify kisses in some way, we can do it in different ways.
One way to classify kisses is according to the motivation that drives them:
- Kisses as a greeting: in this category all those kisses that arise from the social convention that the greeting encompasses are classified. There are many ways of greeting for this purpose, after all, each country has its culture and customs and they do it in a different way. While in Russia for example it is customary to kiss on the mouth, here we give two kisses on the cheek. Another way to kiss as a greeting is to kiss the hand, a gesture that can also denote subordination, loyalty and respect.

- Kisses as an expression of brotherly love: sibling kisses are common, sweet and necessary in every child's childhood. Yes OK it is not good that you force yourself to kiss, it is propitious that this custom is strengthened, so that the emotional bond between them is reinforced.
- Friendship kisses: It is a kiss that is done with tenderness and affection, it denotes that emotion for a special person who shares good moments with you and to whom you need to express it in some way.
- Kisses of love and passion: They are the kisses that everyone craves, the expression of the love we feel towards our partner, our company in life. They are the kisses that move us inside and bring us closer to that happiness of choosing that person every day. To know that you could live without him or her, however, it is those kisses that make you prefer their presence. It is the kiss that provides intimacy to the couple, the one that creates that bond different from the one you have with the rest of the people.
- Kisses of parental love: the most sincere, the purest, the ones that just emerge. The kisses you share with your children are priceless, but perhaps the most valuable thing you can share with them. Savor them always.
- Betrayal kisses: They are those that are given out of commitment, when they do not feel, when they lie. They are the most painful, although they may seem even the sweetest at the time.
- Religious kiss: There are many religious cultures in which it is customary to kiss an object. For example, in Muslim culture, it is customary to kiss a black stone, while in Catholic culture, it is customary to kiss the Pope's ring.
Benefits and dangers of kissing
It is necessary to take into account the sensitivity of our lips. Due to the large number of nerve endings that pass through them, they are used by our brain to perceive a large number of stimuli. This means that any contact can create a reaction.
There is usually a release of oxytocin, dopamine, and adrenaline, hormones known for their role during the birthing process, as well as in sexual attraction or maternal love. This hormonal release generates physical effects, beneficial to our body. These hormones are natural antidepressants, basic in the dilation of blood vessels, which is why they also contribute to the reduction of pain.
On the other hand, you have to be careful with hygiene, since oral contact can be a means of spreading diseases. It is important to maintain good hygiene and some precautions when kissing or being kissed, pTo avoid infections by fungi, viruses or bacteria.
What is hidden behind a kiss?
After a kiss you can hide anything, from a social gesture, such as a greeting or a gesture of admiration before a superior, as we have already mentioned. But also can hide the emotions of each person. 
As a means of expression, a kiss can say many things. A warm kiss can mean unconditional support. A cold one a betrayal or a bitter farewell. That passionate kiss can even mean a life change. A new love that begins or one that will be impossible, but that has the fire and magic of a wonderful moment. A kiss can be empty and dry a heart or fill it with tears. It can also be full and fill you with smiles and strength to fight all the battles that lie ahead.
