Today is the Labor Day, a date that unfortunately is losing the importance it deserves. Every time we value the struggle of our ancestors less and for most of the people it is just a holiday.

A day like today In 1886, workers went on strike to fight for the rights of all wage earners. This is something that our children will learn in school, they will tell them about universal history and they will know the meaning of this celebration.

But in our obligation, as people who we now enjoy certain rights thanks to the efforts of other peopleWe have to raise our children in a way that they understand what work is and why it is so important.

Teach your children why Labor Day is celebrated

Therefore, we as parents we have the duty to teach them the importance of effort and perseverance. And we must do it taking into account that work does not refer exclusively to what we do outside the home.

Children have to learn from a young age, that to obtain a benefit they first have to make an effort, a job. It is essential for its development, that they learn that things are achieved with work.

And if they do that job well, they will get a reward. Fathers and mothers we are natural consentors of our children. We have the need to give them everything, so it is easy for the child to understand that he can have whatever he wants without effort.

For our children to grow aware of what it costs to win something, first they must learn that things are not achieved simply by wanting them. Work develops personality.

You can start by assigning them small tasks at home, depending on their age. By creating habits in the little ones, you will create daily work routines. And that learning will be fundamental for the development and growth of your children.

In this way you will be motivating the children to achieve things with their own efforts. You will be encouraging them to grow up as responsible adults. If we make the mistake of giving them everything, we can turn our children into weak future adults, unable to meet objectives.

Carrying out a job involves effort, perseverance, responsibility, challenge. Skills necessary for life in general. Therefore, in addition to teaching children the value of work, you will be developing a future efficient personality.

Organize some special activity to do as a family on Labor Day. Depending on the age of the children, it can be more or less laborious.

Homework for children to do

Each age has a task. Even if the children are very young, you can teach them that after playing, you always have to put the toys in order. Sit with them in their play area, and teach them how to keep everything in its place .

Children doing the dishes

When they are old enough, you can assign it as homework. Ordering their toys will be their first job, and you shouldn't overlook if they don't. Parents must be firm, so that children be aware that their actions have consequences.

As children grow and acquire skills, you can create with them a table of daily and weekly tasks. For each task they complete, they will accumulate points, which at the end of the week will become their "salary".

The more tasks you complete correctly, the higher your reward will be. Thus the children will learn that with their effort, they achieve much more than with the whim.

Individual work and group work

It is also important that you teach your children to differentiate between individual work and group work. Since throughout your life, you will have to do jobs of all kinds, it never hurts teach them to work in a team.

It is not easy for all children to share work, share ideas, and see how other people develop them. There are people who are born with an individual and competitive personality.

In these cases you should even organize group tasks at home, so that the reward is shared. So further you will be promoting in your children the value of being generous and of sharing, both the benefits and the sacrifices.

And something very important that you should not forget is to teach your children that work, it is also what their parents do at home. This is a cause that we still have pending. Maybe your children are the forerunners of this fight and someday they will be mentioned in the history books.

Happy worker's day
